REinvent International Sales has scored several deals across its slate at the American Film Market, including “River of Blood,” “Together 99” and “Second Victims.”

The Finnish film After Us The Flood has received the main award, the Silver Méliès Prize, in the Méliès competition series at the Trieste Science+Fiction film festival. Director Arto Halonen was there to receive the award.

SF Studios and REinvent has boarded the feature film adaptation of the Villain of Villains, based on the best-selling book series by the Swedish YouTube group IJustWantToBeCool. The film is directed by Alain Darborg with a screenplay by Jessika Jankert. Strive Stories produces the film in collaboration with SF Studios and SVT. The film is expected to premiere in Swedish theaters in January 2026.

Today REinvent has launched the poster for the upcoming Norwegian/US feature film DON’T HANG UP from director Alex Herron (LEAVE, 2021; DARK WINDOWS, 2022). DON’T HANG UP is a classic horror film featuring an up and coming cast including Claire McPartland, Brett Curtis and Siri Black Ndiaye in the lead.

Scandinavia’s leading sales outfit REinvent has boarded Norway’s true crime “Escaping Bolivia,” currently filming in Cape Town, South Africa, after an initial shoot in Oslo.

REinvent International Sales has picked up the upcoming futuristic drama feature,  THE SQUIRREL directed by Markus Lehmusruusu. The film stars Miro Lopperi (Codename: Annika, 2023) in the lead and filming will begin next week and will be taking place in Sweden, The Netherlands and Germany.

The ambitious Finnish-Latvian co-production is set in a post-climate-change world on the verge of destruction and sees a physicist sent back in time to save humankind.

“Kalevala,” a compilation of epic poetry drawn from Karelian and Finnish folklore and mythology, is full of violence, but director Antti J. Jokinen – who has adapted the book for his film “Kalevala: The Story of Kullervo,” set in the 1100s and centering on the tragic hero Kullervo – has “no interest” in that.

Production kicked off in Seoul on Sept. 3 for “Hana Korea,” an ambitious Denmark-Korea co-production based on the real-life story of a North Korean defector.

Arto Halonen is putting the finishing touches to his latest feature, an eco-sci-fi tale titled After Us, the Flood, Cineuropa has learnt. The Finnish filmmaker, active in the fields of both fiction and documentary, debuted with his feature Princess in 2010, a drama that racked up 300,000 domestic admissions and proved to be one of the most-watched films in Finnish theatres that decade. Other prominent works of his include the Finnish-Croatian co-production A Patriotic Man [+] (2013), the psychological thriller The Guardian Angel [+] (2018) and his latest family drama, Arnold Cautious and the Happiness Stone (2023).

The internationally acclaimed director Lisa Langseth's new Swedish feature film The Dance Club has now begun filming. The lead roles are played by Nils Wetterholm and Alva Bratt with Pernilla August, Evelyn Mok, Matias Varela and Julia Franzén in the ensemble. The movie is set to premiere in Swedish cinemas in early fall 2025. Meta Film produces the film with SF Studios distributing the film in the Nordics. REinvent handles international sales.
