We are very proud to let you know that BEGINNINGS, Jeanette Nordahl’s second feature film, has been selected for Berlin International Film Festival where it will world premiere in the Panorama section.
Jeanette Nordahl enjoyed international acclaim for her debut feature, WILDLAND (2020) which also world premiered at the Berlinale, opening the Panorama section in 2020. She recently directed the Canneséries selected series, “The Dreamer – Becoming Karen Blixen” (2022) starring Connie Nielsen and latest the upcoming sequel to the acclaimed BBC tv-series “Responder” (2024) starring Martin Freeman.
Synopsis
Ane and Thomas are on the verge of being divorced when Ane suffers a stroke, forcing them to stay together and postpone telling their children about the split. Faced with this new reality, the two find hope where they least expect it.
The film stars Trine Dyrholm alongside David Dencik – reunited on screen again for the first time in eighteen years. Their first appearance together was in Pernille Fischer Christensen’s critically acclaimed “A Soap” in 2006 which was awarded a Silver Bear at Berlin International Film Festival.
Trine Dyrholm is one of the most sought after and acclaimed Scandinavian actresses of today. In 2016 she won the Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival for her role in Thomas Vinterberg’s “The Commune”, her other credits include Susanne Bier’s Academy Award winning “In A Better World” (2010) and Sundance Audience Award winning “Queen of Hearts” (2019) for which she also won the Best Acting award at Göteborg Film Festival. In 2023, she starred in Michael Noer’s acclaimed feature, Birthday Girl and lastly she appears as Queen Anne in the D.C. Moore series, “Mary & George” (2024).
David Dencik is a highly acclaimed Scandinavian actor, who has enjoyed international acclaim and landed major roles in English-language films and series including James Bond feature “No Time to Die” (2021), “Chernobyl” (2019), “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy” (2011) and “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” (2011).
