Small Dogs Bark Loud

When life feels a little too big, it helps to have a dog who understands you and talks back. With her talking companions, the dog Salto and the cheeky cat Pus, twelve-year-old Tuni sets off on adventures inspired by her very own bucket list. From dancing in the rain and starting a bead business to riding a motorcycle like a true hero, anything is possible. A warm and playful family film about friendship, daring to dream, and finding joy even when emotions feel overwhelming.

SMALL DOGS BARK LOUD is somewhat of a festival darling of a family documentary. In September 2021, Tuni’s half-brother took his own life, and her mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Because of the difficult circumstances, Tuni finds it challenging to talk about her feelings. Shortly after her brother passed, she got a dog named Salto. Small Dogs Bark Loud tells the story of a brave young girl who confronts grief and illness while also celebrating life, and demonstrates how essential animals can be in helping us navigate through difficult times and tough emotions.
