Pelle is fifteen, lives in Oslo and has one really good friend, Proffen. When Filla and Stein wreck the kitchen of their boys' home and run away, they meet Pelle in town and steal the money he was given for a new jacket. Pelle knows Filla from before and cannot understand what has happened to him. In a hamburger bar he meets Lena and falls in love; she seeks him out, then vanishes without a trace. With support from Pelle's hippie parents and from Leffy, the two boys go looking for Lena, Filla and Stein, and find the city's underside of derelict houses, drugs and prostitution.
