Currently in production shooting on location in Norway, THE MIDNIGHT TRAIN ROBBERY is the latest addition to the Reinvent Yellow Sales slate. Directed by Gunnbjörg Gunnarsdóttir (Victoria Must Go, 2024), the film will send audiences on a visually striking and highly entertaining cinematic experience.
The film follows a daring train robbery targeting a world-famous painting as it is transported across the mountains on the iconic Bergen Line. When the plan begins to unravel, tensions escalate and hidden motives emerge, sending the mission spiraling into chaos.
Driven by seasoned producer team Gudny Hummelvoll and Ole Marius Elvstad for På Film, with script consultancy by Academy Award winning scriptwriter Anders Thomas Jensen, THE MIDNIGHT TRAIN ROBBERY will blend action, drama and breathtaking Nordic landscapes with the classic Scandinavian quirkyness.
Director and writer Gunnbjörg Gunnarsdóttir says: “I want to make a bold and highly entertaining heist film set against the Arctic landscape, driven by fractured friendships, clashing ideologies, and a robbery that spins completely out of control.”
The cast consist of up and coming stars, Elli Müller Osbourne (Viking Wolf, 2022), Jakob Fort (Konvoi, 2023) and Sjur Vatne Brean (Out Stealing Horses, 2019), among others.
Synopsis
A group of students decide to embark on the train robbery of a century, targeting the night train between Oslo and Bergen. The famous painting Bridal Procession on the Hardanger Fjord is being transported to an art exhibition at the remote mountain village of Finse, and the students have to cross the Hardanger mountain plateau by skis to rob the national treasure from the train. Despite their differences, the group set off on a heist that is bound to become both spectacular and highly chaotic, as it turns out that one of them has hidden motives.
The film is directed by Gunnbjörg Gunnarsdottir and produced by Ole Marius Elvestad and Gudny Hummelvoll for På film with support from Zefyr, Western Norway Film Fund and Scanbox Entertainment in cooperation with Amazon Prime Video. International sales is handled by Reinvent Yellow Sales.
