We are immensely proud to let you know that Gustav Möller will be returning to Sundance Film Festival with his new series THE DARK HEART which will celebrate its world premiere in the Indie Episodic section.
Based on the best selling novel of the same name by Joakim Palmkvist and inspired by real events, THE DARK HEART is a psychological drama thriller with an acclaimed Swedish cast. The series has been envisioned by two of Sweden’s most prominent names, screenwriter Oskar Söderlund (Easy Money, 2021) and director Gustav Möller (The Guilty, 2018) and tells the story of a forbidden love and a tragic murder.

THE DARK HEART stars an acclaimed Scandinavian cast, with Gustav Lindh, Clara Christiansson Drake, Aliette Opheim and Peter Andersson in the leading roles.
Clara Christansson Drake earned her breakthrough at age 14 in the film Faro and has since grown her skill as an actress and played several big roles in hit TV-series such as “Gåsmamman” (2015) and “Gösta” (2019).
Gustav Lindh’s international career skyrocketed with multi-award-winning feature “Queen of Hearts” (2019) and he was awarded with a European Shooting Stars Award at the Berlin International Film Festival 2021. Most recently he has shot the international feature “The Northman” (2022), in which he will be playing alongside an international stellar cast including Nicole Kidman, Willem Dafoe and Alexander Skarsgaard.
Aliette Opheim has starred in Netflix hit series “Caliphate” (2020) and “Knutby” (2021). Peter Andersson’s past appearances include “The Unlikely Murder” (2021) “Underworld” (2016) and “In order of Disappearance” (2014).
The series is a five-part psychological drama-thriller about how an old family feud clashes with a young, forbidden love story, leading to a tragedy with a deadly outcome, ultimately solved by a private investigator who gets obsessed with the case. The story is based on journalist Joakim Palmkvist’s book “The Dark Heart: A True Story of Greed, Murder, and an Unlikely Investigator”, that delves into the story about how a mysterious missing person’s case is investigated and solved by a a local Missing People-volunteer involved in the searches.
The series is created by screenwriter Oskar Söderlund and director Gustav Möller, who is the on-set director for all five episodes. The five episodes are produced by Anna Carlsten and Caroline Landerberg / FLX for Discovery+, in co-production with Film i Skåne and collaboration with REinvent International sales.
