The punky satirical series about the first female prime minister in the Nordics, Norwegian PM Gro Harlem Brundtland wins the Best Series and Best Composer awards at the Closing Night Ceremony of Canneseries on April 19.
“We are very proud and happy that POWER PLAY has received this award at Canneseries! This obviously means a lot to us who have produced the series – in so many ways! The series has been carried forward by committed and skilled colleagues at all levels, and it is fantastic that POWER PLAY has got this opportunity to reach out internationally through the Canneseries festival!” says producer Camilla Brusdal, Novemberfilm
“REinvent is thrilled to be representing another fantastic series from NRK produced by Motlys. We are sure the series will find a good audience internationally. The topics and history is very relevant when we look at the world we live in today“, says Sales & Marketing director Helene Aurø.
POWER PLAY is the incredible story of Gro Harlem Brundtland, who in the late 70’s works as a young doctor, fighting for self-determined abortion, when she almost by accident, stumbles into politics. As the government implodes around her, Gro learns to play her own games of power, climbing the ranks until she is the last woman standing in the ruins of Labour’s celebrated social democracy, ending up as Norway’s first female Prime Minister in 1981.
