Gunnar is a seven-year-old boy and in his first school year. He is a lonely and day-dreaming little boy who finds school, and most of all reading, difficult. But one day there is a knock on the classroom door and there stand two very little people. They are Peter of the small folk, who have come to start their schooling.Peter and Petra live in a house underneath the trees in a park in the centre of Stockholm ans they become Gunnar's friends.
