Intermezzo

On a visit home, the famous concert violinist Holger Brandt sweeps Anita Hoffman off her feet. She is a promising young pianist and gives lessons to Brandt’s daughter Marie. He convinces her that he loves her when he leaves his wife and family and asks Anita to travel with him as his accompanist. She accepts. They tour all the major cities of Europe together. It is all very romantic and when the tour is over they go to Austria for a vacation. Anita learns that she has won a grant to continue her studies and Holger begins to miss his family, so when his impressario Charles advises Anita to leave Holger, for her own good as well as his, she does so. Holger then returns to Stockholm. On his arrival his daughter is hit by a car. She survives and Holger realizes that his wife and home and family are more than important to him than anything else.
