Cornelis
CORNELIS is a biographical music film chronicling the life of Cornelis Vreeswijk – a life unlike any other. A hard life which started anew as many times as it collapsed. A life lived in euphoria and in darkness. It is the film about one man’s constant search, restless need to express himself, and enigmatic contradictions. The shy, bourgeois man who becomes a womanizer, a national ruffian, banned from the radio. The social worker with writer’s dreams who becomes a musician. The people’s Poet Laureate who never got his Swedish citizenship. The penniless tax evader. Crucified in the press for his reluctance to conform. Loved on stage for just that. Everybody’s friend, but nobody’s confidante.
