All These Women
Felix, a master of the cello, has died. His wife and many mistresses, his concert manager and the critic Cornelius attend his funeral.A flashback shows Cornelius arriving at Felix’s, which is the estate of a weal¬thy woman. Cornelius, who is writing the cellist’s biography, is willingly seduced on his first night by one of Felix’s woman who performs a stylized striptease for him.Somebody shoots at Cornelius while he lies in bed with his seductress. The next morning, while searching for his assailant, he overhears the omen discussing their various affairs. They have synchronized their lovemaking so that each one gets equal time with Felix. Cornelius is unable to see Felix and tries dressing up as a woman to get to him. Finally, he confronts the cellist telling him that history will forget him unless Cornelius writes his biography. However, Cornelius will not write the biography unless Felix plays a musical composition he has penned.Felix gives into Cornelius’s demands, but just as he is about to play the piece at an important radio concert he dies. He is mourned for as long as it takes another master cellist to turn up. Then he’s forgotten.
